How to NOT start off a snow day...

Snowmageddon!

It’s a day off from work and school, here at Dopplegangland…but it would have been nicer to start it off, if the following conditions had NOT manifested themselves:

school-bus-snow.jpg

(1) A fully showered & freshly shaved teacher, waiting for a radio report on school cancellations…that doesn’t come…

(2) A bundled-up teacher, sweeping great swaths of snow off a buried car, listening to a cranked-up radio, for a report on cancellations…that doesn’t come…

(3) A teacher arriving at the corner store, shaking off the snow, crowded by people who have forgotten how to drive in the snow and have lost their minds. He is trying to buy a newspaper, and listening to the radio inside the store, for a report on cancellations…that doesn’t come…

(4) A teacher, dusted off for the second time, sitting at Tim Horton’s, reading the newspaper, drinking coffee, trying to listen out for a cancellation report on the store’s radio…only to realize they’ve changed the channel to an all-music station, with NO news reports…

(5) An irritated teacher, just having called his sister and told that they (they” being the extra-slow weather overlords who make such decisions) have ONLY NOW — an hour after my day began — announced school cancellations! The teacher drives home, takes off his work clothes, tries to go back to sleep…and FAILS.

So here I am…snow day. Watching Star Trek TNG on DVD and doing my laundry. I’m sure the day will end more tolerably than it started.
